The Christian's Constants Parts 1 & 2

There are seven basic Christian constants upon which all other biblical truths are based. These constants include:

  • Reconciliation

  • Trust

  • Teaching

  • Inversion

  • Loving people instead of things

  • Salvation, service and interdependence

  • Church attendance

In the first and second weeks of this class, these constants will be discussed.

The Christian's Book

Every religion has its own book or books. The Moslem Religion has the Koran. The Buddhist religion has its Zend Avesta. The Mormons have the writings of Joseph Smith. Cults springing up across the nation each have their own books.

The Christian has his own book, also. The Christians book is the Bible. All other religions find man at the center of its belief. Man reaching out to god. Christianity, on the other hand, finds God reaching down to man. The center of the Bible is not man, but rather the Godman, Jesus Christ.

The Christian's God

The Christian believes that there is one God, and believes that this one God has chosen to reveal Himself to mankind in three persons; each distinct, yet each distinctly God. These three person-hoods are God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

The Christian's Beginning Church Age

The church age began on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1-47). On that day the Apostle Peter was preaching and there were added about three thousand souls that were saved.

Christ established the church to carry out His great commission (Matthew 28:19-20). He does that through the local body of Christ, the church, and the universal body of Christ, the church.

The Christian's Assurance Eternal Security

The Bible, throughout, affirms the belief that once we are saved, we are forevermore saved. Eternal life is in the blood of Jesus. Salvation comes as a result of His shed blood. Our eternal relationship is in Jesus' blood. There is power in the blood! Hallelujah!

John 3:16, John 6:47, 1 John 5:13, Romans 6:23

The Christian's Gifts Parts 1 & 2

The church of the living Lord is a gifted body. It is this subject we deal with in this class and in the next. These two classes will emphasize and give scriptural background to support twenty-two gifts. For discussion purposes, these twenty-two gifts have been divided into speaking, serving, and signs gifts.

1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12:4-6

The Christian's Leaders and Ordinances

In this class we will look at two leaders in the church. Certainly there are more than two leaders in every church. But this class will simply deal with the role of the pastor as leader and the deacon as leader. Two ordinances of the church will also be discussed - the ordinance of baptism and the ordinance of the Lord's Supper.

The Christian's Future

This final class deals with things yet to come. What is in store for the Christian in the Future? Biblical study of this nature is called the study of eschatology.

With regard to eschatology, there are three prominent views. There is the post-millennial view, the a-millennial view, and the pre-millennial view.
